Nan Duan

Vice President of JD Group; Deputy Dean of JD Explore Academy

Dr. Nan Duan is currently Vice President of JD.com and Deputy Director of the JD Explore Academy, where he leads research on foundation models in language, speech, vision, and embodied intelligence. Previously, he served as a Technical Fellow at StepFun and a Principal Researcher at Microsoft Research Asia. Dr. Duan is also an Adjunct Professor and doctoral supervisor at the University of Science and Technology of China, Xi’an Jiaotong University, and Tianjin University. His research interests include natural language processing, code intelligence, multimodal foundation models, and AI agents. He has published more than 200 research papers in top-tier conferences and journals, with over 40,000 citations and an h-index of 85+. He also holds more than 20 patents.
