Nan Duan

Vice President of JD Group; Deputy Dean of JD Explore Academy

Duan Nan is Vice President of JD Group and Deputy Dean of the JD Explore Academy. He previously led the Vision, Imaging, and Multimodal Laboratory. He joined JD Explore Academy in 2025. From 2024 to 2025, he served as a Technical Fellow at StepFun, where he led a research team in building multimodal foundation models centered on language and video. From 2012 to 2024, he was a Senior Principal Researcher and Research Manager in the Natural Language Computing Group at Microsoft Research Asia. Dr. Duan also serves as an adjunct Ph.D. supervisor at the University of Science and Technology of China and Xi’an Jiaotong University, and as an adjunct professor at Tianjin University. His research primarily focuses on natural language processing, code intelligence, multimodal foundation models, and AI agents.
